said correctly, my hypothesis to prove your statement: 1(subject) + 2(hours study) = 3(hours of exam). it means if u study for 2 hours then u can survivefor 3 hours in the exam. but suppose if u study for only 1 hour, then u survive for 2 hrs only:1+1=2. this is the case with shrikant
